i see twins! march 22-24 2013

I see twins and I don’t mean the Double Mint chewing gum commercial. What I mean is Twin Lakes in Lincoln County in Eastern Washington. Twin Lakes is on BLM land, Bureau of Land Management. It is south west of Davenport Washington.

We left the Spokane Washington area after 5 pm on Friday. We figured we would get there right before dark, it gets dark at about 730 pm at this time of the year. There were passing showers but the weather was not too bad. We did arrive at about 715 pm. It was chilly as the passing storm dropped hail and the temperature. So we found a spot. That was easy as we were the only ones there, so we got set up.

We sat around the fire for a while and then hit the bed for some needed sleep. The next morning it was bright and sunny out. Don’t let that fool you though, it was down to the mid 20F over night. After some coffee I went outside to walk around and see the area that we parked at for the weekend.

We got some breakfast in us and headed out to do a little hiking around. What a wonderful place this is. So peaceful and beautiful.

I should mention the road coming in to the area. The last mile is not too bad but not for the weak hearted, motorhomes, fifth wheel or large trailers. It’s not too bad but it is steep in a couple spots with a couple tight turns. It also is a one lane road. That’s only about a mile of the road though.

It was a little breezy earlier in the day but the winds did let up some later on. Time to get the kayak out and do some exploring.

This place is just amazing.  We could not help but just sit and look around at everything. There were so many different types of birds there. The songs of the birds and the burbling sound of the stream passing by us was so relaxing. The colors of this land was additionally  inspiring.

Dinner was made as well as a fire. We sat, talked and ate. We just relaxed, that was so nice. Then the end of the day was upon us.

Sunday morning came around and we packed up to head home. I really wished that we could have a 3 or 4 day weekend to extend these trips out but we can not. At least we do get out as much as we are able to, to enjoy what our area has to offer.

Sights on the way home.

A wonderful weekend once again. This was the first time at this spot. We will be back. I will give some advise to those that may wander to this place. I would recommend going in early spring or late fall. The area is a very heavy rattlesnake area. I guess if you are very careful it would be okay but for me, I prefer to skip the snakes thank you.

  1. Look like another great trip for you and your family..thanks for sharing..I finallly made it back to Ar. and am planing to head south for some gumbo about the 5th of April…I’ll get up that way sooner or later!! Safe travel..

  2. I’m amazed, I must say. Seldom do I come across a blog
that’s both educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head.

The problem is something that too few people are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt
    for something relating to this.
