A little hike and Geocaching in the Pend Oreille County Park this weekend. The park is north of Spokane Washington out Highway 2. It is only a 20 minute drive from home. It is dry camping for a cost of $10.00 per night. We arrived after work on Friday night and got our spot for the weekend. We have camped here before but it has been a while. I do visit the park a lot and do some hiking on the trail system but those are just day visits.
Friday night would be a relaxing sit around night. The only thing we did do was take the dogs on a short walk to replace a geocache I have in the park that was stolen. It is a bummer that people take the caches instead of just leaving them there for people to enjoy finding while playing the game. It is something that happens though. This was the first time in this park that I had an issue with that.
Saturday morning was slow paced and that was nice. In the afternoon fellow Geocachers would arrive at the park. I was hosting a small event in the park, a Meet and Greet followed by a hike for those that wanted to. After a half hour visit several of us set out to hike a trail in the park. I have 19 geocaches hidden in the park and we would search several of them out on this hike.
In total it would be a 3.5 mile hike with a bit of elevation gain and loss. The day was getting warm but it was still a very nice hike. When we finished the hike, everyone returned back to our camp spot and we enjoyed hot dogs and chips along with great conversations.
After everyone left Joanne, Cody and I relaxed around camp. Not any hurrying around, just relaxing.
The next morning after breakfast we packed up and went back home. We have a lot of things to do in the next couple days. We have things to get ready before we leave in four days for Montana. We are heading to Glacier National Park and the Montana Truck Camper Rally. We are supper excited to get going for that. Just a short 4 day work week to go!
