Another weekend, another weekend of skiing at 49 Degrees North. We would leave the house very early on Saturday and drive up to the mountain to get a spot for the weekend. When we arrived all the power sites were full so off to the next parking lot where you can park the RV’s. At that lot there are no hook ups. No big deal, we have our generator when needed. That lot is still close to the lodge, about 300 yards away.
We got set up and that does not take long at all, then we sat around the propane fire and waited for the time to come when we would head to the lodge. This weekend we would be joined by our oldest son Jeff and 4 other friends to ski and board. So we had a nice group of 8 for this day on the mountain. The weather was fantastic. It was much warmer up on the mountain that it was down in the valley. Beautiful sunshine and no winds.
We did split off and skied in a couple groups at first then we met up at the yurts at the bottom of the back side ski runs. Of course it was a perfect spot to have a beverage of choice. We then rode the chair up and skied back down to the lodge to have lunch.
We went back out to do more skiing. Today there would be night skiing as well. I did a few runs under the lights then we went back to the camper and started a fire. Our friends would stop by to visit us at the camper before heading back home. What a great ski day, even more fun when you can ski with friends as well.
We had a good nights sleep. The next day looked to be another great ski day, sunny and no winds. Yes, it was once again warmer up on the mountain than down below. We would ski about a half day before returning to the camper and leaving.
It was yet another fantastic time skiing and camping. It will most likely be a few weeks before we get our camper out again. For sure in about 4 weeks from now when we do a little trip to north central Washington. We will ski again at 49 but just do a day trip.
We get people all the time talking about how we get out in the winter weather. Well when you live in the north you better enjoy it or it will be a long season. Dress warm and get out there and have fun!
