Cabin Fever 2/9-211 2024

Palouse Cabin Fever Brew Fest had arrived again. This beer festival in the little town of Palouse Washington is one of our favorites. Other beer festivals over time just got too big for our liking. This one gets no bigger than 700 people who can attend. 50 of those are VIP tickets and like our previous two times attending this event, we got those tickets once again.

One of the great things for this event is that there is the RV park just a couple blocks away from the event location. There are no motels or hotels in this little town so not much for options to stay a night or two. But the RV park is a great option for us.

We got off work a little early and we made the 1.5 hour drive south from Spokane to Palouse. We soon got set up for the weekend stay. A bit later that day there would be fellow truck camper owners arriving for the event as well. We would have dinner together under our pop up tent. With the walls up on the tent and the little propane fire going, it made it nice and warm keeping the outside chills off.

We had a good night chatting with the other couple who had a truck camper too. It was very nice meeting both of them.

I was a little surprised that there were not more RV’ers staying there for the weekend. There was one travel trailer next to us but beside the two truck campers, that was it on Friday night. There are 10 spots available at this RV park. They have full hookups but the water is turned off during the winter time.

The next morning started off pretty chilly but later during the day the sun came out and it was a very pretty day.

Later in the day we went for a little walk and eventually went to the local restaurant, Palouse Caboose. We had lunch there and a couple beers. The food there has never dissappointed.

After lunch we walked back to camp for a little bit. We sat outside in the sunshine for a bit visiting. Soon it was time for us to go to the festival. With VIP tickets we got in 30 minutes earlier. We also got swag, food and some extra beers no one else gets in te VIP area. This event is a fundraiser for the town and we do not mind the extra fee for those ticket. They make it worth it and it goes to a good cause.

There were 10 breweries in attendance with each of them bring 2 or 3 beers to try out. Many different styles of beers and some very strong beers too. We had such a great time attending this event once again. We gave it our best effort trying as many as we could. Hey, we just had to walk two blocks back to the camper.

A good turnout but not too many.

At the end of the event we stuck around to see who won awards for the beers they brought. We then made the short walk back to camp and hung out for a little bit before calling it a night. The third time attendig this event, and a third time having a great time.

The next morning we got things packed up to head home. We said our goodbies to the other truck camper couple. As we were finishing getting packed up the snow started to fall. The weather this year was pretty mild actually. It is only the middle of February after all.

Snow falling.

We look forward to next years festival. I hope the keep it the way they have done so far. If so, we will be back once again next year. Thank you to the town of Palouse for putting on such a great beer festival. Cheers!
